Library and information services


As a RCM member, you can access the following library and information services by using the below links.


  • RCM Reference Library - RCM members can access the full RCM collection at the reading rooms of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 27 Sussex Place, Regents Park, London. The RCM has a prestigious collection of books, journals, archives and artefacts relating to the current practice and history of midwifery. 
  • Enquiry service - including searching of library and bibliographic resources to support continuing professional development, research and clinical practice
  • Reading Rooms - use of the reading rooms at the RCOG
  • One-to-one information literacy support - including basic database searching at the RCOG (not available to RCM Student members) 
  • Reference use of the RCM and RCOG book, journal and dissertation collections at the RCOG
  • Document delivery of articles and chapters from the RCOG and RCM library collections - subject to UK copyright law and the physical condition of the original at a cost of £2.50 + VAT per item.Please contact the RCOG
  • Bibliographic databasesboth open and subscription based databases
  • eBooks
  • eJournals
  • Standard Searches Services - access to Midirs database for a discounted rate
  • Heritage Collection - collection dates from the foundation of the RCM in 1881
  • Resources - including RCM and RCM accrediated resources to download and external videos.
  • RCM Midwifery Bookshop - purchase or download publications
